Behind The Scenes...

Regarding the Threshold music album; I wanted to pay tribute to the golden years of Radio Drama, a time when families gathered together around their radios to listen to a story unfold. For that hour or so, each person was transported into a different world using their minds eye. By listening to the Threshold album, the radio drama experience is reborn as each individual becomes part of the story using their own imagination and unique interpretation of the audio scenes & music.

With the Threshold album I set out to accomplish a multi-media experience. One of the ways I endeavored to do this, was to trigger the imagination of the listener by building into several of the tracks handcrafted audio scenes. Although these scenes may seem to be taken from a Hollywood movie, they were in fact painstakingly created from scratch. Much like a treasure hunt, intense time and effort was expended in gathering the individual sounds. After the audio clips were gathered, they were orchestrated together to form the audio scenes. To create several of the individual audio effects, such as the UFO landing, it required as many as eight or nine separate sounds layered together.

In the creation of this album, I was the director of stories in which the actors to me seemed like phantoms, for they were never physically present nor connected to myself or each other in any way. I sculpted their work into a sequence that would express my vision. This album is meant to be abstract, in much the same fashion as an abstract painting. There is no wrong interpretation. The full scope of the artwork expressed in the Threshold album is observed by summoning the power of your minds eye and opening yourself up to the experience.

Below is a demo of one of the audio scenes.
